Gábor

Gábor

Guide

Hi, I’m Gábor from Hungary! Firstly I came to Finland 10 years ago, as an Erasmus student, where I studied tourism. That time I had the possibility to visit Lapland 2 times. It was love at the first sight, and I already knew, I have to come back here later. And now, here I am. Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland is my home for more than 5 years. As a nature enthusiast, I have everything here, what I need: (okay, maybe a bit less of warm weather :-)) never-ending forests, crystal clear fresh air and beautiful surroundings. Lapland has countless treasures, and I am more than happy to show them to you!

Passions: Cycling, hiking, nature photography and Aurora hunting.

Languages: Hungarian, English and a bit of Finnish.

Mascot

Hi, I am Duke. I am an Alaskan husky born in 2016 and I am a trained sled dog. I was born in a Finnish husky kennel that ceased its activity and my owner Guillaume took me with him. I now follow him in his adventures, and even most of the time lead the way in front of his bike or skis. In winter, I am taking my mascot job very seriously and welcome you to the office.

Passions: Being petted, pulling sleds, sniffing around.

Languages: Howling, squeaking, but mute most of the time.

Front Desk

What does it mean to be Arctic? It’s a question I often ask myself as I continue both repressing and rediscovering the wonders and beauty of Lapland. To me, the Arctic stands for unity and perseverance — all in the name of this small yet vast and magical place. I arrived in Lapland over a year ago to study Northern Tourism at the University of Lapland, and since then, I’ve come to believe that Lapland is the answer to many of my questions.

Passions: Films and art, cooking, geography.

Languages: English, Russian, Turkish, Azerbaijani.
