Experience the magical Taiga forests in winter!
This safari will take you out of Rovaniemi, straight into the Taiga forest and its beautiful nature. Your guide will lead you through the Lapland forest, sharing insights about the trees, plants, their properties and wildlife. You will also learn how to use your surroundings to build a fire and other basic survival skills.
Once you arrive at the start, you will be given a brief on safety instructions and what to look out for. Wilderness Survival Tour has different levels of difficulty depending on your ability, your guide will discuss this with you upon pick up and between you, the best route will be decided.
Wilderness Survival Tour is a very special opportunity for those who wish to wander into the forest to try and get a glimpse of the spectacular and elusive Finnish wildlife and natural beauty of Lapland. This tour is also intended to be very educational – your guide will share with you their knowledge and passion about nature, and teach you about the secrets of Finnish nature as well as some basic survival skills.
Each season offers a different perspective of Arctic nature
The tour operates all year round, with specific features attached to each season. In the wintertime, you will enjoy views of snow covered fells, white trails and frozen trees, with very cold temperatures that may drop down to -30°C!
In January especially, the wild and beautiful forests look as if they are straight out of a fairytale! You will learn about the footprints you find around you in the snow from animals such as; wolf, lynx, wolverine, moose, reindeer, weasel, Arctic hares and many more!

Refreshments and a typical Finnish campfire snack will be provided halfway, as your guide will light a fire to keep you warm. This is a great opportunity for your guide to show you how to build a fire using traditional methods. No need for matches or a lighter, your guide will use flint & steel (we can do this in conditions as cold as -30°C) and natural materials you would have picked on the way!

We have therefore decided to no longer do city pickups. If you are staying in the city center, we would kindly ask you to come to our office (our address: Rovakatu 24, 96200 Rovaniemi) and start the tour from there.

Cold weather clothing will be provided, but we recommend to dress appropriately. Not recommended for participants with heart complaints or other serious medical conditions. This experience may require a certain amount of endurance.
Hotel pick-ups commence 10 – 60 minutes prior to the start time. Your pick up time will be confirmed by email.

Cancellation Policy
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 100% if booking is cancelled 1 day or less before the event,
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 50% if booking is cancelled 7 days or less before the event,
- We will charge a cancellation fee of 10% if booking is cancelled 365 days or less before the event.
